What are the security settings in Zoom? How do I prevent Zoom bombing?

One of the advantages of using the EventPilot integration with Zoom is the high level of security. The link to the webinar is not publicized via the app and only becomes available to logged in users a few minutes before the session starts. All Webinars and Meetings are automatically password protected.

Please stress to your

  • speakers and panelists to not share any of the personalized links they receive from Zoom or ATIV Software publicly to prevent unauthorized access.
  • attendees to not share Webinar access details if potentially visible in the Zoom session .

Webinars

Attendees can:

  • raise their hand
  • chat or submit questions via Q&A (if available - hosts can control what options are available to attendees)

Host can:

  • control a variety of Webinar settings
  • mute and unmute participants
  • promote other participants to be panelists or co-hosts / demote panelists or co-hosts to participants
  • start the broadcast
  • control screen sharing
  • remove participants
  • end the webinar

Panelists

  • control their audio and video
  • start/end their screen sharing
  • depending on the webinar settings, use the chat and respond in the Q&A

Webinars are set up to be in practice session mode. This means that the session is not available for the audience until the host starts broadcasting to the audience.

Virtual Sessions (Zoom Meetings)

Virtual sessions are ideal for more interactive events such as roundtable discussions, exhibitor meetings, or poster session Q&A. Attendees can:

  • control their audio and video
  • raise hand

Hosts and co-hosts

  • all speakers receive an email with the ability to claim the host role. The first speaker to join can start the session by claiming the host. This speaker will need to promote the other speakers to be co-hosts.
  • hosts and co-hosts can:
    • control their own audio and video
    • muting the audience (including not allowing the audience to unmute themselves)
    • lower someone's raised hand
    • share their screen
    • remove participants
    • end the meeting

Default Settings

On creation:

  • Inviting others
  • File sharing
  • Screen sharing for participants
