EventPilot can automatically generate summaries, 2-3 sentences in length, using a Large Language Model (LLM) for non-embargoed abstracts that are imported into the EventPilot App Builder by your event organizers. The LLM uses its extensive knowledge of language and context to create content that is not just relevant but also meaningful to the user. This feature aims to assist conference attendees in efficiently navigating through numerous presentations and selecting the ones most relevant to their interests.
These summaries are intended to provide a quick, at-a-glance overview of your presentation, helping attendees decide whether to explore the full abstract or add your session to their schedule. By summarizing complex research into a concise format, this feature enhances the attendee experience while providing more visibility to your work.
You can choose to only use the summaries to enhance search and not display the summaries visually to attendees in the session detail view.
Note: AI Enhanced Search is an Add-On feature to EventPilot Pro.
Generative AI is experimental
Please note that the generative AI features provided are experimental and may produce unexpected or inaccurate results. It generates content based on learned patterns rather than having a true understanding of the underlying research. We recommend that you verify the information independently and use these features with discretion, particularly for critical tasks.
FAQ
What is the purpose of adding abstract summaries?
Conference attendees may need to evaluate hundreds of presentations to decide which posters or oral sessions they can attend during the limited time available at the conference. A summary in the presentation detail view of the EventPilot Conference App can help attendees make a quick decision to dive deeper, read the full abstract, or add that presentation to their schedule. Additionally, the summary is used to enhance the Scientific Search Engine so that attendees can easily find your research using terminology that might be present in the abstract but not necessarily in the presentation title.
Why does my session not have an AI Summary?
If your abstract is under embargo, an AI summary is not generated until the embargo lifts. The summary will appear in the platform after the embargo has been lifted, the system was able to generate a summary and the organizer publishes a new data update.
Can I edit the AI Summary?
AI summaries are automatically generated by a large language model and cannot be edited directly by speakers. If you believe that the summary of your abstract is incorrect or misleading, please contact us directly by opening a ticket through this support page. Be sure to include the conference name, your name as it appears in the speaker list, the title of the presentation for which the AI summary appears, as well as a detailed explanation how the generated summary is incorrect.
Is my abstract used to train the model?
No, your abstract is not used for training purposes. The model that generates these summaries is pre-trained, and any data processed by it is only used to generate the specific output requested, not to improve or modify the model itself.
Does my abstract become publicly available in the LLM?
No, your abstract is not publicly accessible through our AI system. Our Large Language Model is private and processes abstracts solely provided by the event organizers for the purpose of generating short summaries. These summaries are displayed exclusively in the session detail view within the EventPilot platform.
How are the AI Summaries used to improve searchability?
The summaries generated by the AI help improve the functionality of the EventPilot Scientific Search Engine for your conference. By including key concepts and terms from the full abstract, the summaries make your research more discoverable, even if certain keywords are not included in the title of your presentation. This feature ultimately helps attendees find relevant sessions more easily, enhancing the visibility and impact of your work.
Can I hide the summaries and keep all other benefits?
Yes, summaries can be generated and used only by the search index. That way, you can benefit from improved search, more accurate related session matches, and improved personal recommendations.
Will the generated summary affect my presentation content or accuracy?
No, the generated summary is simply an additional tool to help attendees understand the essence of your research quickly. It does not alter or replace the actual content of your abstract or presentation. However, since generative AI can occasionally produce content that might be slightly off-target, we encourage you to review the summary once it becomes available.
Notice to Presenters
If you are using AI-generated abstract summaries in your conference app, we recommend including the following notice on your abstract submission page or portal. This notice informs presenters about the AI summary feature:
AI Abstract Summary Notice
Our conference mobile app includes AI-powered summaries of submitted abstracts to enhance accessibility and navigation of research content. These summaries:
- Are generated securely on the conference app provider's servers
- Do not involve sharing abstracts with external AI services
- Create supplementary content to accompany the approved abstracts
Processing Notice
By submitting an abstract, you acknowledge that:
- The abstract may be processed using AI tools to generate a concise summary
- The AI-generated summary will appear in your presentation detail view that contains the link to the full text abstract
- Authors maintain all intellectual property rights to their original work
- Summaries will be clearly marked as AI-generated
Quality Assurance
AI-generated summaries are created automatically and may not capture all nuances of the original work. Authors may request summary regeneration if the AI summary substantially misrepresents their research by contacting: [email protected] (ensure to include the conference name and title of your abstract).
If you have already collected all abstracts, you could instead inform your presenters via an email like this:
